The word Braai, pronounced Bry, is Afrikaans for “barbecue” or “roast” and is a social custom in South Africa. It can be used to describe an event:
A social gathering where friends and family 'meat' at someone's home (or a communal venue) and is typically centered around a grill. Which brings us to our next use:
Typically the grill, or braai, would use either real wood or charcoal (some purists, including some of the Ayoba crew, insist that this is mandatory), but a gas grill is perfectly fine if that is all that is available.
