  • We ship Boerewors frozen in insulated containers with ice packs. We recommend shipping UPS Next Day Air so that the Boerewors arrives frozen, or UPS 2nd Day Air, and the Boerewors will arrive slightly thawed but fresh to eat for up to 7 days, or can be re-frozen if done immediately.
  • WE ONLY SHIP BOEREWORS ON MONDAYS & TUESDAYS to avoid weekend transit delays. (Example: Order placed TUE night or later won't ship until the following MON)

What is Boerewors?

Boerewors is a mouthwatering South African recipe sausage. The word Boerewors translates from Afrikaans as "Farmers Sausage". Boerewors' secret ingredient is coriander, which gives it a unique flavor unlike any other sausage in the world! Our Boerewors contains no preservatives and is not pre-cooked (looking at you 'hot dogs'), for that authentic butcher shop taste! (note: Beef & Pork comes in a coil, Beef Only comes in links)

Quality Ingredients

Our process starts by cutting our chef selected slabs of beef and pork into cubes which we grind and mix with all natural seasonings. (Also available in Beef Only)

Grilled To Perfection

Boerewors is best prepared on the "Braai" (what's a Braai?) at medium-high heat until the sausage is firm and covered in beautiful grill marks. (Can also be prepared in a pan)

Served On A Bun

Boerewors is so flavorful that the sausage can be fully enjoyed by itself, or covered in your favorite sausage toppings. Check out our Recipe Blog for more ideas.

How does Boerewors ship?
Boerewors is shipped frozen in an insulated liner. We recommend shipping overnight (UPS Next Day Air) so that the Boerewors arrives frozen, or (UPS 2nd Day Air), and the Boerewors will arrive slightly thawed but fresh to eat for up to 10 days, or can be re-frozen if done immediately. WE ONLY SHIP BOEREWORS ON MONDAYS & TUESDAYS so that the Boerewors does not get stuck in transit over the weekend. Will my Boerewors arrive frozen & how long does it stay fresh?
If shipped with Next Day Air, your Boerewors will arrive frozen and can either be placed in the freezer for up to 6 months, or defrosted and used within 7 days. If shipped with 2nd Day Air, your Boerewors will arrive slightly thawed and can be re-frozen, or placed in the fridge and used within 5-7 days.

How do I defrost my Boerewors?
Boerewors can be defrosted by placing in the fridge overnight, or by letting it sit (still wrapped) in room temperature water for 30-45 minutes, or until no longer frozen.

How do I cook Boerewors?
Boerewors is best prepared on the braai/grill. Place Boerewors on a heated grill, turning occasionally, and cook until internal temperature is at 145°F. Try not to break casing to keep the Boerewors from drying out. If you prefer, you can also cook Boerewors indoors on a pan with a little bit of olive oil on medium heat, with a lid on, turning occasionally. Check out a few of our favorite recipes.

Amazing Boerewors
